Crystal Lake
It is around this small pond in the heart of Newton Centre - a suburban community just west of Boston - that my passion for photography was born-again. Although I'd practiced the 'art' for many of my younger years, it wasn't until the discovery of a pair of unlikely Pekin ducks who had made the lake their home - that I picked up my camera and returned to what I loved.
For years - I'd run and run and run some more. From what - I'll never quite understand. To what - I'm not quite sure. Always in a big hurry to arrive at a destination - I never stopped to look right or left or up or down. I never took the time to look and really see the beauty that was unfolding around me.
It was to that - that I picked up my camera and began anew. Quickly - I discovered the 'art' of slowing down..of looking and really seeing..of capturing life as it was through my camera's lens. Daily - I began the practice of recording the life and the light..the color..the morning mist and sun's rise...the subtle changes that occur as one season transforms itself into another and another after that.
It is a project that began in the summer of 2004...and continues on today.
Although - at times - impossible to differentiate where one season ends and another begins ..I've tried here to categorize them accordingly. You can follow along the progression of the seasons...seeing for yourself how nature forever renews and restores.
My hope is that you'll walk along side me and see what I see thru my camera's lens.
