The Secret

How is it - she wanted to know - that she might advance to the next level?

She believed - of course - that there was some great secret...some magic trick..some all important answer to her question. Something - she thought - I might possess..something I might know...some great wisdom that I might be able to share.

Having to think for a moment - I paused.

There is - I offered - nowhere else to go..nothing other she need be. The secret is really quiet simple. It's about showing up. Everyday. It's about repetition. There is no 'next level'...there is only this. The here and now. Today. The secret is in the never-ending practice. The prize - is in the pose.

It wasn't the answer she'd expected..nor what she'd hope to hear.

But really - I assured her - that's all there is.

The segmented reflection really makes the shot.

What you wrote could relate to so many things. I'm assuming yoga but I was thinking about photography as I read it. I want so to know the "secret".

Beautiful shot with good composition and long reflections. I like the alternance in them.

Hi Marcie, i would have gotten very angry if you told ME life was about yoga posing lolol i used to love yoga, but when i became a Christian, it started to hurt rather than help, not sure why... but tell me the photography secrets please :) nice minimalist shot!!

It's the kind of thing employers would like to drum into their employees, right, Marcie?! :D Beautifully said.

Such sage advice, and wisdom that I know you have come by through your own life experiences! The photo is perfectly paired with this text and what a delightful image!!! Excellent placement of buoys for interest, weight, and composition - plus, the coloration. I see the red/pink one as the outstanding one that has moved to the top, which I assume is your intention.

thanks for visiting my blog & commenting on WORDLE.... I want to explore your blog... love the pic of the buoys and thoughts about "showing up"... I think I will meditate on that as I drive into Carmaggedon to see family. I'm actually taking the freeways around the area, but not sure how they'll be affected with the closure of the 405 Fwy tonight. Oh, this is happening in the Los Angeles basin (near the LA Airport)...
