Mistaken Identities
September 21, 2011
A coyote - I thought.
Oh...not one - but maybe two. If there are two..there must be more. Should I run..or stand my ground? What am I supposed to do?
The fog was thick. The world was in shadows.
It took me a bit to see that these two sweet pups were as terrified of who and what they thought I might be..as I was of them.
If I mistook them for wild and dangerous coyotes...I can only imagine what it was for that they mistook me???

how funny yet how lovely!!
They simply mistook you for a well known photographer who can make them famous posting their photos on her blog ;-)
talk about a mirror image of each other....wow !!
I got bit by a black lab a couple of years ago walking down to the beach. Left a plate sized black bruise on my thigh. The owner was working on a house and tied the dog by the road. I didn't see him and startled him awake and he nailed me. That guy shouldn't have tied him up by the road. Now I carry a really loud whistle on my key chain. I haven't had to try it out yet.
Very cool shot, Marcie.

Magical image, like a mirage almost. I hope they took you as a friend.
This is beautiful! What a mood!
Nice transformation of a startling moment into a warm and happy one! Love this shot!
What a joy to see these two lovable Lab pups through the mist Marcie.... i don't think that they considered you a threat at all.... they were just waiting for you too offer them a treat:)....peter:)
Excellent !
but this is mirrored, isn't it?
I had been to afraid to take the shot Marcie :-)
Un couple iréel et bien frabriqué.
I absolutely love this shot, what a great composition and the fog gives it a wonderful feel.
Love this shot!
One of those moments when you find your heart in your throat until realization hits.
The fog adds a great mood to the photo. It sure does look like a mirror image -- amazing!
Please tell me this is a reflection - their poses are such perfect mirrors of one another, it's uncanny!
I can feel their friendly yet unsure stance :) The mirror image in the fog is so beautiful :)
A fantastic misty shot Marcie....
LOL ... oh, look at them, trying to be brave when they were so scared!
Very good subject! cheer!.
c'est pas trop rassurant !
Why do we so often assume the worst? (Rhetorical question.)
I like this spooky, near silhouette composition and execution.
Aww! cute :-)
Great find well captured! Love the words you paired with this image.
Loved this shot! and your story. Jeanne http://thebutterflymetamorphosis.blogspot.com
It's fantastic, but is the imagination category because there's some artography involved in the image? curiosity & all that...
i bet they smelled you even before they saw you.. so, it's all good.. :) but wow, they sure are a mirror reflection of each other.. great catch! :)
They do look a bit like the Hounds of the Baskervilles...
I love that you're not sure... menacing or mirrored?
This is such an awesome capture Marcie!
So cute! My little guy though he saw two dogs the other day. They were huge and he was very worried about them. When we got closer (they were around a blind corner), we realized to our excitement they were deer. I was not so quick with my camera though.
Such mystery...this one scares me a bit!
Love this! The picture and the story!
