Apothecary's Shelf

And - what happens when life hands you lemons..instead of sweet lemonade? Or - when the wind blows and the rain falls and what should be beautiful winter white is nothing other than muddy wet winter brown?

A spoonful of sugar makes that medicine go down...or so I've heard.

With that in mind - I thought -  this little bit of color set against nature's backdrop - might just be the sugar that transforms this dreary day from what it is..into something sweet.

What else might I do for fun on a rainy winter day? What do you?

Oh my! The colors in your image are my very favorites. Just about every piece of clothing I own is in this color range...lol. *love* On a rainy day in 2012, I'm very content to be sitting at my computer learning everything I can about PSE and photography. It sure does help the cold, winter days go by more quickly. Your photo is beautiful!

On rainy days I find even the gray light has it's own shining beauty. Those soft colours are exquisite :-)

I love the beauty of symmetry. This is gorgeous.

Marcie, you've made something very beautiful on your rainy day.

I came back to read again the previous post, and got mesmerized by this one. the mood and wetness. on a rainy winter day I do something out of the ordinary to add a bit of flash - light a candle I haven't lit for awhile, or bake carrot cupcakes, something like that. for dinner I made roasted vegetable lasagna because I haven't made that in a very long time and it's snowing outside for the first time since last winter. I'm happy it's snow, but nothing wrong with rain -just look at the beauty you captured.

I like what you found to brighten up your rainy day Marcie... we are not suffering the wet winter problem that you are... ours is white and deep:-)
On a rainy day i play my instruments... guitar and trumpet... not both at the same time mind you... and it lifts my sprits up... because i can play whatever i wish to:)....peter:)

I can't think of doing anything better than this, Marcie, to get your creative juices flowing. Otherwise, I just work on a jigsaw puzzle, as you know. :)

You used your rainy day to great advantage--it made a gorgeous background in this image.
I just read the comments above and am impressed by the positive steps people take to keep their moods positive on rainy days.

This kind of day whispers to you for a nice fire, a blanket, and a good book.

I do think your rainy window photos are among my favorites. These colors are perfect against the rainy panes.

Marcie - I am having a hard time this year when the weather is uncooperative and I am stuck indoors - I can't seem to find inspiration here at home for something to shoot. Thank you for continually providing ideas for finding homebound "sugar".

The smooth tones in this image are beautiful! They suit the subject perfectly. Oh and before I forget: Happy New Year! :) Little late, but still...

Beautiful image Marcie. Me...I've been making quite a bit of lemonade lately...guess I didn't realize how much I love the taste! I also do "intentional smiling"...the mere act of turning up the corners of one's mouth can have a huge impact on your outlook ;-)
