We'll Always Be
January 26, 2012
Why are we still here? - she asked.
Why don't we fly south like so many of our feathered friends and distant cousins? Why is it we endure this very bizarre winter weather? One day...I'm shedding my winter coat..the next - I'm layering it right back on. It's warm. It's cold. It rains. It snows. Every day is something new and always something different.
Why are we still here? - she asked..over and over and over.
He had to think a bit before coming up with an answer.
Because - he said...at last - no matter where we go...or how far we travel....we'll always be. Simply you. Simply me. There's no place better than this frozen river. There's no place other than where we are today.

Wonderful!
There's no place like home, there's no place like home, there's no place like home....suddenly those words started flooding over me. And if home is where the heart is, no wonder I want to be right where I am. So beautifully written and gracefully shown, Marcie, to portray a universal truth.
A sweet message and exquisite image. :-)
Beautiful
Swan love, love it...
Sweet and succinct, perfectly told tale in image and prose.
What a great message and photo. Well done Marcie!
Marcie - a good reminder to "be" here, where we are. Lovely photo - the white swans against the white backdrop of snow.
Very contemplative and beautiful… image & words create a touching mood.
These two beauties are so elegant and graceful; gives me a wonderful image and feel as I set out on my day Marcie!

Just perfect marriage of photos and words, congratulations and my vote!
Your images are all so overwhelmingly beautiful and this image actually gave me a little ache. The solitude is beautiful and what a beautiful testament to love that these two are.
The white swans with the white snow ~ rare beauty... just like you :)

No matter where we go or how far we travel I'll always come back here: It's soothing & it's mighty beautiful, Marcie!

Awsome capture!
This is a beautiful capture of the pair Marcie and the river has opened up for them to survive the cold... i ask myself why we live so far north and come up with the same answer that you described about the Swans... we have our warm fireplace to beside... together:-)....peter:)
This is delightful. I love the composition.
A lovely piece of writing and a well crafted shot.
So lovely. I ask the same questions.
they look so still, did you use a tripod? it looks almost like a painting, lovely.
I love the milky edges to the water and the way the curve helps focus on the swans.
So true.
Lovely image (as always).
Il ne manque plus que la musique du divin Tchaikovsky.
' There's no place other than where we are today' Beautiful post, beautiful words, fabulous pictures, there is something about swans. Yesterday I was driving through the polder and I saw a group of at least 30 swans together, maybe they will go find a place a little warmer. The wind turned to the east and that means FROST from Russia.
Wonderfully romantic. :)
So true :-)
