Choosing to See

No need to look up to see the colors of the dawning morn. I could feel the light. I could see them in the reflecting waters.

From brilliant reds and oranges..to faded pinks. From darkness...to light. From night...to day.

At first glance - they were nothing other than some sticks and stones. Ordinary...everyday. Not something anyone would give a second glance or chance.

But - when I stopped and glanced again - I saw what it was I'd come to see.

Tiny long-legged...elegant and graceful - dancers. Siegfried with his swan Odette....James with his  sylph....Clara dancing alongside her princely nutcracker. All of them - surrounded by their chorus.

And - I thought ...as I so often do - it's amazing what we see if we choose to look. It's amazing what we choose to see when we're not quite looking.

Lovely colors and the twigs form an interesting pattern with their reflections.

This is the kind of image I'd want to give to my English class (if I were a teacher!) and ask them to write about what they see! :)

This is beautiful - love the black contrast among/against the jewel tones.

The very definition of photography - "what we see if we choose to look". And here - the silky water and its pink/blue morning reflections; the dancing twigs. Nothing more is needed because you have captured the beauty of simplicity.

At first glance I thought of an elegantly written Chinese character.

Yes, when we are not quite looking...amazing things come into view. Beautiful color and light.

Great capture! There's something about the stillness of water and its reflection that sends us deep into our own minds.

You certainly have the 'seeing eye'. But having followed your blog for quite a well I also think you must be blessed with some wonderfully photogenic country not far from home, and......you have the stamina to get up early in the morning to catch the best light. This is just a perfect reflection. Characters from a long-lost language perhaps
