Borrowed Art

It's all too easy. The beauty..the color...the light. There it is -  morning after morning...day after day - just waiting....begging for me to stop..to look..to see. A sitting duck...a deer in the headlights...a moment wanting to be captured and preserved. Forever.

It's as if I'm stealing. It's someone else's idea..it's someone else's plan..it's someone else's painting. All I'm doing - really - is copying and pasting. But then...and on the other hand - I just can't seem to turn the other way. I can't pretend that this - this astounding grace that surrounds me..isn't unfolding.

I'm just borrowing - I tell myself. I'm borrowing from mother nature. And - I will..I will..I promise - give it back. I'll return it - back to where and from it belongs - when I'm done.

Ah, but you are not just borrowing it, you are sharing it!

I agree with Lisa and Mike! Borrowed...and shared. :) How lucky are we!

Since we are all connected, we all share in the beauty..... but not everyone is awake enough to avail themselves of it. So go - and grab it!! Phenomenal image!

Someone said "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder". Mother Nature is amazing -- with your photography you help us see it.

Borrowing, sharing, and passing it on. It's a wonderful way of living on Mother Earth.

Nature is such a wonderful artist. And you are so generous to share her beauty with us. I think she is pleased to have you borrowing and sharing -- you can see it in the way she 'struts her stuff' for you.

I understand completely what you mean - that I just borrow from the beauty around me. And yet, we both borrow and share - without your capture, I wouldn't have been able to experience and witness this scene of autumn splendor. And it was your eye who looked and saw and recorded it in just this way. So we are partners with the world around us, are we not?

Borrowing a moment without hurting or hindering, how perfect is that. I love the misty water too and the beauty captured in this particular borrow. Sometimes we say here that we are "only taking the lend of something"..... it's always an innocent event........

The mist over the still, blue water; the riot of color above. What a spectacular contrast!

Your post reminds me of the quote: "You don't take a photograph -- you ask quietly to borrow it." by Michael Slevens (I think). I'm with the other commenters that it is in the sharing that you celebrate what you have borrowed even more.
