Because - It's Not

Not because it's anything special. But exactly because - it's not.
What could be more ordinary than trees bumping up against a sky? A sky so dark and grey as to remind us of what has recently passed. A glimmer and shimmer of hope. There is always light to guide us.
I thought - how tenacious these leaves must be. To have weathered and survived. And - I thought..all at once and the same time - how fleeting and fragile. Soon - they will fall. As they always do. Leaving not a single trace of their color and beauty behind.
We'll all soon forget. About the late autumn color..the late afternoon light..the wind and rain. We'll forget - because that's what we do to survive.
And so - not because it's anything truly special..but just because - it's not.
I want to remember.

I will remember with you, Marcie, that life is so fragile. One day it's here and the next it's not. We are never guaranteed more than this very moment...and even that will pass. I love this "because--it's not."

Stunning. Fall is also here in the Netherlands but the trees in my neighborhood are not "burning" like yours are doing. I love it though, great colored capture.

You are right - trees against the sky may not be something truly special. But your capture - of that darkly threatening blue sky and the glowing, burning autumn leaves - is indeed something special, something we need to remember. About the fragility of all life and quickly it can end.

Well, by being nothing special and a scene most people wouldn't even notice, it is very special to capture like this! I love these autumn colors!
I think we do remember each image that we make no matter how many, and the more we make the more we remember, strangely......Just love that deep turquoise sky.......

Incredibly beautiful...I have so many photos of treetops. Thank goodness for the cycle of nature that brings their wondrous colors back to us again and again.
