April Showers
April 12, 2012
It's raining out.
I know.
It's cold...and it's damp...and it's muddy out.
I know..and I know..and I know.
I'd rather stay inside today. If I may. I don't want to go out there and play.
But - what if I miss something? What if a once-in-a-lifetime opportunty presents itself? And - what if the moment passes me by?
Okay. But still - it's wet out there. It's grey.
And - here I sit unsure which side of my brain is talking to who. Which of the two sides should I listen to..whose voice should I follow?
My sweet pup sits here at my feet - patiently..waiting..expecting. Aren't we going for our walk today?...so what if it's raining...we always go out..I want to go out today.
I give up. I give in. Out into the rain we go.
Maybe - it's time to stop thinking..and start listening? To the voice that is the loudest. To that which is my own.

Your inner whisper will always steer you in the right direction. I am so glad you listened Marcie :-)
i am so glad you go out...this is incredible. breathtaking. standing ovation, marcie!
Absolutely!
Sometimes it's hard to know which inner voice to listen to in that internal tug of war. I'm so glad you listened to the one who said venture out. Your image is bliss...Bliss!
Wow, beautiful writing and image Marcie. If this is the shot you got after convincing yourself to go out then I'm convinced too. Time to get moving.
Beautiful shot...you caught the drips.....you are lucky having so many waterbirds nearby..
Wonderful image. Now bring on the May flowers!
I am glad that you took your pup for a walk and captured this beautiful swan... superb composition Marcie....peter:)
I know that feeling of hestitation, Marcie. In this case, you were not "lost." Thanks for listening to the other voice.
Such a wonderful and elegant image!
Beautiful words and so beautifully illustrated. I actually kind of look forward to rainy days and they pace they set.
How incredible to capture those drips! Just beautiful! Ahh...if we would only listen to that inner voice more often, right?
Once more...right there with you Marcie. Your image is breathtaking....
I enjoy the photos you share on shuttersisters very much.
excellent reflection and framing
Magical!!! and Inspiring! Thank you.
So glad you listened and shared this beautiful moment!
I hear you about the longing look in the eyes of your pup. I am dealing with the same...but it's the HEAT that begs me to stay in. I have to let my Chester wade in the pond, which means I have to hose him down and then towel dry him before heading back into the house. Makes our walks a bit of a labor but...he loves it. What's a pet owner to do when those little doggie eyes are begging?!
Marcie - I completely understand this reluctance. After our unusual, gorgeous summer-like weather in March, we have returned to our more normal spring - with plenty of gray skies and April showers. And even though I bundled up and went out in the depths of winter without a second thought, I now have to push myself out the door, into that grayness. On most days, I do - I listen to that other voice.
Stunning!
Amazing photograph. lovely words too. Have a happy weekend!
This is very sweet,
Beautiful!
You made a great choice!
I need to take this to heart more often...I talk myself out of so many things.
New to this community. Just wanted to stop by and say I admire a person who really wants to get out in the rain and muck around in it.
Wish I had time for such decisions!! :))
I've been on the other side of the conversation lately. Glad you went out though........what a terrific shot!
