Ripple Effect
June 21, 2012
Just in time...just as the calendar predicted - summer has arrived.
Sun that's so bright..it's blinding. Air that's so hot and still...it's almost hard to breathe. The clouds drift. I find myself looking for some storm ones. Some ones that might offer up some cooling rain...some relief.
Hardly a breeze. Hardly a sound. Nothing's moving.
And then - from somewhere. Maybe up in a tree...or the sky above. Something dropped. Something fell.
I watched - mesmerized - as the ripples grew one into another. A reminder - I thought - of how one small act of nature can create such great change. How a simple thought can become an action..and how that action builds and grows..and - then - creates another..and another after that.
It's all so very simple. Is it not?

It is indeed, and something I wish I remembered more often!
Wonderful post, Marcie.
Beautfiul photo. I hope what you say is true.
It truly is... and that is a perfect summer photo!
Perfect composition.
You captured my very favorite color of Aqua! Beautiful photo... glad you're enjoying some warm weather!
Beautifully simple in concept, but what a wonderful variety of tones and patterns!
We barely had spring and summer started bad here, lots of rain and thunder the first summer day
I've been hearing all about your heat on CNN Int'l, Marcie, and wonder if and when there'll be a break for you. Soon, I hope. Too bad we can't help cool you off by sending you some of the Dutch weather we're having. The last two days we've had our own heat wave...getting up to 70F, after most days hanging around 55-60. I actually love it but would gladly share some of it!
In the meantime, I know you'll keep finding the perfect image for your day!
Energy. The form may change but the energy never fades nor flares. It is for all time. It is Time Herself.
I can definitely relate to the whole being so hot you can barely breathe thing. I was 99F here yesterday and I was dying. This is one of my favorite shots, there's something about a ripple that really does it for me. Gorgeous capture.
Am I seeing a turtle's silhouette just below the surface??
Beautifully written.
This ripple effect will stay with me today.
Thank you!
It truly is simple...and you captured this truth beautifully!
Clearly your photo of these ripples (which is beautiful) has created other ripples in peoples' minds all over the world.
What a powerful magnification effect!
I enjoy your offerings every day, Marcie.

What a mesmerizing abstract! With those circular ripples, continuing on and on to infinity - surrounding that summer sky reflection.
Gorgeous! And beautiful commentary to go with it.
So know what you mean Marcie! It's horrific here in the city...so I got up early and went to "The Pond" in Central Park for my morning nature fix. Encountering those little ripples just makes it all worthwhile! Fabulous capture!
what a beautiful image and words...feels like a meditation.
Beautiful post!
Interesting effect and reflection.
A perfect image to welcome Summer. I love the tones!
Just perfect, can you send a little summer over my way please!
very beautiful colors
So very interesting, the other day I was sitting on my sisters pier and took what I think is a beautiful picture similar to yours here. I found the ripples mesmerizing. Nice!
YUP!
Your image mirrors your well chosen, insightful words so nicely.
Please accept my ripple of appreciation for this photo. Ripples travel far and sometimes even return to their beginning point. May your summer shoots travel far and have many tales to tell.
my kind of shot

Beautifully simple and yet so complex
I'd like to sink myself into this right now. Very beautiful and soothing.
