Art Found Me

What - I wondered - is ART?

What makes it? Who creates it? When is it declared to be?

There's always the obvious. The tried and true. The beautiful landscapes. The sunrises and sets that make you sigh and cry. The oils and pastels and dreamy images.

The oceans. The mountains. The flowers. The birds and the bees and all other creatures - both large and small.

It wasn't as if I was looking. But that then there - it was. Smokestacks and ducts and industrial vents - in bright colors. Perfetctly arranged. Perfectly choreographed. As if they were saying - look at me. See me. Appreciate me for what I am...and have to offer.

ART - I thought. ART is everywhere. ART found me.

It's great when we can find art in unexpected places. And even better -- we can share it and help others see it through our eyes. Thanks!

Excellent shapes and colors against the pale blue skies.

Des couleurs comme une illusion à la réalité de ce décor industriel.

I totally agree that the most beautiful pieces of art are the ones that find us....not the ones we go out searching for...this is a wonderful example of that. I am more attracted to angles and straight lines and architectural elements more so than any other find in nature. This is beautiful art.

Interesting that you should post this image and text. I was just reading about the difference between documenting and making art, and notice that most of my photos are documenting, not creating art. Something to think about more.
The shapes and colors in your image are most appealing. It all comes together to create an interesting image.
You and art are in a dialogue--you write that art found you. Maybe. But, you had to recognize it and respond to it. In that sense, you found art.

I love what Anita wrote. So true. Just yesterday I was in MoMA here in NYC and some of the pieces in a particular exhibit really made me question...is this really ART? Well obviously so...Great topic!

Yes it is around us. We just have to look, stay curious & be open minded. It's more a composition than a photograph. And it looks like your a the conductor. Great, Marcie!
All the best & safe travels, Fritsch.

This is definitely ART - beautiful and unique art, with those saturated colors and gorgeous shapes. It does find us - when we are willing to look.
