About This Day

What is it - about this day - that I want to remember?

What is it - on this day - that I am smelling..hearing...tasting..seeing? What is it - that I am feeling?

The relentless humidity and heat. The sun's glaring. The flowers drooping and fading...wishing for some water to quench them. The birds - forever singing.

An unexpected gentle breeze. The flowers raise their sleepy heads and sway. There is a moment of relief. A break in the endlessness of it all.

Yes - that's what I want to remember about this day. That - there was a moment when my mind stopped its endless chatter..and there was color and balance and quiet and peace.

That seems like a tall order for our busy minds and busy worlds these days. But, you're right...just focusing for a few minutes on one thing or nothing in particular can be like taking a long cool drink of quenching water...

Such a lovely and beautifully processed photo. Slowly the blooms around us are fading, falling, and turning musty....the heat and humidity I presume. But also it is August and changes begin to edge their way in. Always enjoy my visits to your offerings. Sharon
