Night Weavers

Can you imagine how many hands it took to create such intricate beauty? How many pairs of eyes? How many needles and skeins of thread?

I wondered if there was just one..or were there two or more. I wondered if there was a method or a plan. I wondered how it is they did this in the short time that they did...because - just yesterday - there was nothing. And - today - here it is.

Night weavers. Little creatures who wake while we sleep. Busy little hands and feet who weave silk and light and shadow into this.

You've captured this marvel beautifully. I often wonder about the work that goes into creating these masterpieces.

That is beautiful, great capture - I would think many spiders did this. I have a lovely image in my mind of a little community working together and chatting as they spin.

Nice use of the light and shallow DoF to make the web jump out.

The muted background colors and shallow DoF make the webs POP. Stunning.

Last Friday, leaving the house walking toward the sun, I noticed a spider's strand, just a single strand, stretching from one tree to another. It must have been 25 feet long! There appeared to be no bracing, no other strands, no vertical drops to it. HOW did that spider do that? It's the equivalent of the first strand of the Brooklyn Bridge! And by definition, had to be the work of a single spider.

Of course, it had no chance of survival, and was gone when Ii got back from work.

Dew-laden, back-lit spider webs are simply bejeweled delights! I photographed one recently in a cedar somewhat similar to this. I may have to post it on my blog so you can see it. This time of year the early morning with heavy dew and bright clear sunrise and fog is mystical!

Night Weavers...wonderful, descriptive word. It seems that every morning I manage to walk into a Night Weaver's hard work!!! This is quite the camera shot...seldom do I see intricate webs filled with bits and bobs..... Thank you for visiting my blog...yes, I do have a photography blog, but it is also bits and blobs.....irregularly posted. I don't have your stamina nor talent to fill each day with inspiring words and photos. The very best to you and all that you share. smiles: sharon

I'm not so sure that spiders use their hands. But whatever, the webs are undoubtedly an object of autumnal delight.
