Carnevale

From my safe little spot in my safe little world..on this safe little ground - I watched as those who were more fearless than I'll ever be - spun themselves madly around.

Dip and swing. Swing and dip. Up high..and down low. Down low..and back up into the endless sky once again.

I could feel my body contracting..my heart racing..my breath suspending.

And - I thought about the freedom..the possibility..the power in letting go. In simply trusting and believing. In throwing my head back and opening my heart to the wind..and knowing that whatever will be..will be as it should.

All good.

For a moment - I laughed. For a moment - I could feel what it might be to fly so high in the sky...to feel weightless and free. For just a moment - I too imagined myself spinning round and round. And then - I rooted my feet and  thankfully found that solid ground.

Your joy at looking and feeling with the ones up in the air, shows in this stunning photograph Marcie :-)

Lovely words, supported by a just as lovely photo. Or is it the other way around?

I'm with you, Marcie. I don't mind the height but the twirling around is pure dizziness. I DO, however, love watching...and even more staring at this image. I see something new the longer I look.

The image and your words are stunning. I am a huge fan of carnevale - the performance art, the memory of childhood - you've captured something magical and timeless here. Wonderful.

With your superb and atmospheric carnival image and only a few words you captured your thoughts and emotions so well! I can clearly and distinctly perceive here [on the other side of the world] what you felt there… what a great talent!

comme dans un rêve

I'm SO with you, girlfriend!! Soaring up into the wild blue yonder is a lovely romantic thought, but the reality of screaming and maybe vomiting kind of counteracts it!!!

wow, looks amazing and frightening at the same time

I've been seeing just how many of us went to the summer fair this year, myself included. I too watched this from a distance. We had one that was so high it was difficult to see it from the ground, and then another like this, which his really high enough.
Your treatment is beautiful Marcie….although summer is still here with us, it's somehow always over for me this time of year.

Glorious shot. It's almost circus like.

Yes, I too prefer the solid ground beneath my feet. But I am inspired by the freedom to fly that you have pictured so beautifully here. Perhaps our dreams can soar?

Wonderful processing by the way !

A superbly rendered image, Marcie and as always your words breathe new life into an image.

My reader says I haven't been here in 31 days. I'll have to rectify that:) Beautiful image...

I love this. What a great symmetrical shot, and the processing is right on.

that was my favorite ride when i was a kid. what fond memories it stirs.

September 4, 2012 | Unregistered Commentersherri

I'll be standing next to you :)
This is a wonderful photo; love the vintage feel.
I think it's because of the symmetry, the fade at the edges, the subtle colors.
The entire ride looks old-fashioned.
Love this!

What a fun shot. The nostalgic toning imparts the feeling of old time state fairs and harvest carnivals. Well done.

Wow! Terrific.

You can bring out the best in scene, Marcie. This is so good! I would also be there on the ground, camera pointed upwards -- and not the reverse!

September 5, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterAndrew Graeme Gould

Wonderful centered composition and processing. The timing of your photo was perfect. Love the symmetry, the delicacy, the feeling of flying through the air!

September 6, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterAnita Bower

Fabulous capture... I feel the flight!

September 6, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterMargaret

I get a little nauseated just thinking about it but this shot sure exudes happiness. Really nicely composed for impact Marcie.
