Awe Struck
January 29, 2013
Nothing could have perpared me for this scene. No words. No images. No nothing - could have foretold of its unfolding. Its grand majesty. Its presence. Its color. It's beauty. It's fortitude and strength.
Altho one who prefers the more intimate details that tell a story - it was hard not to want to capture this vision in its entirety. Out of the desert scrub the red rock cliffs and canyons left me dazzled and dazed.
Awe-struck.
How is it possible that there be such beauty? How is it possible that out of nothing and nowhere - there is this?
It is..it was - no question or doubt - far more impressive than I can even begin to attempt to describe. Not with my words..nor with the aid of my camera's lens. I couldn't..I wouldn't dare to be that bold and brave. I could never do it justice.
Awe-struck. I was. I am.

Can you imagine living with that day in and day out and having it become part of your psyche...like what you're familiar with back home!
amazing color, what a wiev
Such beautiful colours a wondrous scene for sure.
It is true that nature knows no bounds. Lovely colours, with the soft grasses in the foreground and the rugged landscape in the distance.
I have not yet been to Sedona, but I did visit Moab and fell in love with the rocks and the sky and the Colorado River. Words cannot describe the space or the place.
Your description is spot on... when Becky and I where out West last summer, we felt the very same way!!!
Isn't that the way it always is? Great beauty. Unexpected.
Here's my Wordless Wednesday I'd love to have you stop by!
Thank you for showcasing some of the beauty of the southwest!
Nature is full of lovely surprises, and this scene is just an example. I love the colors you captured!
Nature evokes awe in me so often...this truly is spectacular. I'm so glad you captured it so that we could also see such beauty. Thank you for sharing!
I think all photographers pray and look for these sort of captures and you got a great one! Wow the light hit those rocks just perfectly to show how very colorful and beautiful they truly are!
Awesome shot...Happy WW! :-)
mother earth is amazing!
Me too. Gorgeous.
Breathtaking.
I love this colors. Great processing
This was so exciting to see. I have spent much time in southern Utah, Arizona and the general region. We lived in the west. This was like a trip home. Personally I think you did a remarkable job of capturing the essence of this wild open space that too few get to see. You have now shared it with so many. You might be interested in the books of naturalist Terry Tempest Williams. She is by far one of my most favorite writers. She uses a pen like you use your camera.......
Thank you for making the attempt to capture your awe - I think you did an amazing job of expressing the grandeur of the scene. You do have to ask the question - how can such beauty exist? How grateful we are to be witness.
Very cool looking. Love the red of the rock.
Unreal!!!
Amazing...quite a sight!
Nature at its best!
The desert will do that to you. Gorgeous scene!

Beautiful formation, well shot.
Beautiful colors! Did you blur the outsides of the photo or did that happen inside the lens? Cool capture.
well said, it's like seeing water in the sahara desert. :-)
Marcie, this is absolutely breathtaking.
I could stare at this for a very long time.

It's breathtaking isn't it? My whole family was blown away by the beauty of Sedona.
