Because
February 7, 2013
Because - when I get quiet...I can begin to listen.
Because - when I listen...I can begin to hear.
Because - when I hear...I can begin to feel.
Because - when I feel....I can begin to hear the sound of my own heart's beating.
Because - when I hear the sound of my own heart's beating...I can begin to listen to the rhythm of my breath.
Because - when I listen to the rhythm of my breath...I can begin to quiet my perseverating monkey mind.
Because - when I quiet my perseverating monkey mind mind...I can begin again.
To listen.
To hear.
To feel.

I so love this image Marcie and the words you've shared. Funny, the picture I made today I titled, "Don't believe everything you think." After reading your post I'm reminded that the listening, hearing and feeling are vastly more important and perhaps get more to the matter!
Wow!!! xx
at first I thought it was a car's hood ornament! you totally threw off my sense of scale
In the end, feeling is everything. If we don't feel, we lose our connections.....
Contemplative and beautiful - image and words create a touching mood.
I can see me liking everything of yours!
Perseverating...yup!
well spotted, beautiful light
Lovely image and words...I wish I was better at quieting my monkey mind! It's an ongoing battle.
Nice.......... I feel ......... so ........... calm .......... now..... Strong image, like the words too.
What amazing light! I love the strong contrast in light and dark on the figure which gives it such depth. And your words are inspiring - all the reasons to take the time to be quiet and breathe.
I love the image and it soothes me....hearing your quiet rhythmic words too, calming my world all the way across the Atlantic....quietly....
As I leave for Israel and the upcoming 'experience', I think I'll memorize this poem to take along! Thank you.

I just want to keep looking at that image..your words, that image. your words, that image! Beautiful.
