These are about my recent adventures in Italy. I will be posting images and occasional accompanying descriptions of what it is you are looking at.
Hope you enjoy the journey.
In the light of day, they are beautiful and full of life. At night, the canals are magical.

Beautiful capture with an almost unreal, fairytale-like atmosphere.

I like the lighting and grainy-ness. Good shot.

I do like the contrast between the solidity of the floodlit building and the dissolving dark areas. The buildings on the left are magnificently undelineated and sort of pastel like. Oh, and I do love the noise.
jo on 29th November 2009 @ 8:55pm
You are so right, Marcie, about the night magic. This is like a painting.
Ginnie on 29th November 2009 @ 10:15pm
does feel magical. as if it's a movie set - and any minute now a great romance is about to unfold.
michele on 29th November 2009 @ 11:01pm
The high noise works in this - as you take the mysterious light into nightfall under harsh illumination - successfully.
Stephen Phillips on 29th November 2009 @ 11:39pm
it's like a scene from a movie.
elizabeth on 30th November 2009 @ 1:26am

i hate my flash....i think you do too....but just recently having found the need to use it, I played around with it at night and changed the setting to underexpose my photo with the flash on....wow, what a difference in my photos...it was lit up but without the look of the flash having been used....
and you're killing me with all these vacation photos as I need to get out of here now....

Yahoo! I got into to visit. I hope the problems with your server get solved.
I love the graininess of this shot. It looks like an Agfa slide film that I used way back in the old days.
Michael Rawluk on 30th November 2009 @ 2:42pm
Love the grain in this shot! Magic mood and light.
pernilla on 30th November 2009 @ 3:13pm
Es una bonita escena nocturna con una preciosa iluminación. Yo creo que en este caso una conversión a B&W hubiera minimizado el problema del ruido y le hubiera dado un aspecto de imagen clásica. Buen trabajo. Un saludo.
Pere Chuliá on 30th November 2009 @ 4:28pm

Yes, I love night shots, especially with water. I was mesmerized when I was in Amsterdam and loved walking at night to be entranced by the reflections on the canals.
