This next series will be of my recent adventures in Italy. I will be posting images and occasional accompanying descriptions of what it is you are looking at.

I hope you'll enjoy the trip.

The Accademia is a gallery of pre-19th century art in Venizia. Situated on the south bank of the Grand Canal, it gives its name to one of the three bridges across the canal, the Ponte dell'Accademia, and to the boat landing station for the vaporetto water bus. It was originally created as an art school.

The oldest (Scuola della Carità) of the collection of buildings dates back to as far to 1260, while the last (the Convento dei Caononci Lateranensi) was started in 1561 by Palladio and never fully completed. The facade of Santa Maria della Carità was completed in 1441 by Bartolomeo Bon.
